Description: This class was first offered in January, and was a huge success. For those of you who missed it in February (or for those who want to attend again), please sign up now for the March 1st session. This training is run by our local Sebastopol Neighborhood Communications Unit (SNCU). This is a group of amateur HAM radio operators who have agreed to assist in developing an emergency communications plan for Sebastopol. The class will introduce the communications plan, explaining how the plan will serve our personal and neighborhood needs for health and safety. The Plan is designed to assist neighbors and neighborhoods obtaining needed resources and providing real-time information about the emergency. The class will include training in the various roles that will need to be filled to make it happen. It will end with a functional component where we can all role-play how the plan will work in an emergency. This is a great class for anyone interested in learning the effective use of walkie talkies (FRS radios) and HAM radios in an emergency setting. No supplies or experience necessary - just your interest and commitment to making Sebastopol more Disaster Resilient - starting with yourself!
